Description
This resource curation project integrated two different data sets on sign language acquisition in one central archive. First, a diverse set of longitudinal data of deaf children from deaf and hearing parents that has been collected at the UvA in the last 20 years, and secondly, a new collection of longitudinal data collected at the RU from hearing and deaf children of deaf parents. Neither of the two had been properly documented with metadata descriptions, and neither of the two had been safely archived anywhere. The goal of the project has been to document the two data sets with CMDI metadata files, and archive them at the MPI language archive. The metadata have been completed in September 2012, and will soon be accessible through CLARIN's European Virtual Language Observatory. The video data will in due course also be available to researchers under a special end user agreement that will be developed for the project, through the Language Archive of the Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics.
