Name
POLFIE – the implemented LFG grammar of Polish
Description
POLFIE is an implemented LFG grammar of Polish that creates two parallel layers of syntactic representation:
– c-structure, which is a tree representing the syntactic structure;
– f-structure, which represents:
a. syntactic dependencies based on grammatical functions (such as SUBJ – subject, OBJ – passivizable complement, ADJ – modifier, etc.),
b. morpho-syntactic attribute values (such as CASE – case, NUM – number, GEND – gender, etc.).
After generating the analyses, one analysis is presented (“Top-ranked”) – the one that is automatically selected based on the weights of the discriminants.
If the user wants to manually select another analysis, they should check the “Packed representation” box and then select the desired discriminants (more than one may be needed) from the following: “f-structure”, “c-structure”, “lexical”, and “morphological”. To select a given discriminant, click on it – the combinations in which the given discriminant is fulfilled will be selected. It is also possible to select the complement of a given discriminant (click on “compl” next to the discriminant) – the combinations will be selected, in which the given discriminant is NOT fulfilled.
An extended version of the ALIGN service is to be implemented in the form of a better acoustic model. Such an extension is essential for noisy data because the current version of the tool works well for clean and predictable data, but it can produce errors or fail completely for very noisy or low energy signals..
